SISTER KRISTA: Thank you. It’s nice to be here.
SISTER MAXINE: And Sister Adele Marie Altenhofen.
SISTER ADELE: Hello, welcome.
SISTER MAXINE: Sister Krista is the Director of CYO/Camp Howard with oversight of the sport programs for Catholic elementary and middle schools in the greater Portland area, and Sister Adele Marie is President of the SSMO Ministries Corporation. And with us here in the audience, freshmen and sophomores from Valley Catholic School and their teachers. It is great to have you with us. We are delighted you could join us today.
PATRICIA: Hello, my name is Patricia. How do you incorporate your daily life, normal things that you would do like going for groceries, going to fix a car, let’s say, and just general things that laypeople do in everyday life, how do you incorporate spiritualness? How do you incorporate those things to have even ground with those?
SISTER ADELE MARIE: I think having balance in one’s life is something everybody seeks. One of the things, as an administrator, that I often try to bring to bear on any kind of encounter is to reflect upon the fact that it’s not all about us. It’s not on our shoulders 100%, that God is going to take care. I have seen that play itself out numerous times. There is a story about Pope John XXIII, where he had a lot of weighty stuff on his plate, and he had been struggling with trying to deal with issues. He had a great sense of humor. He said, before he took off for the night, he said, “You know God, it’s Your church. I am going to bed. You take care of it.” To some extent as a leader, I think we model that it’s God’s work. We are here to be partners with that but really, God’s in charge and God will take care of it.
